IMAGINE…
The magnificent experience of a balloon flight over a game reserve conveniently close to Jo’burg & Pretoria…
Inspired by the beauty of the bushveld at sunrise the Woodland Kingfisher herald’s daylight with his wild, proud call. Whilst guests enjoy hot coffee, rusks and muffins, they watch the enormous balloon envelopes billow hugely and gently into the air, inflated by controlled blasts from the burners into their hollow cavities. Then it’s everyone into the balloon baskets and up, up and away – catching the wind, and in unison with the rising sun, view the day breaking over the beautiful Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve.
Big Sky Balloons work closely with superb game lodges in the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve, and accommodate corporate and private clients who seek a special and unusual activity to enhance their bushveld stay. We fly from 2 to 35 people at a time. Our operator is a fully registered airline company who are highly professional to ensure your enjoyment and safety at all times.
Passengers must be at the bushveld launch site half and hour before sunrise as the balloon takes off as the sun is rising. We serve tea, coffee, rusks and muffins prior to the flight. The flight is about an hour long depending where a good landing site presents itself. After the balloon lands everyone celebrates this wonderful and unique experience with bubbly and orange juice, whilst the 4 x 4 recovery vehicles arrive to load the balloon onto the trailer and taking everyone on a scenic drive back to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. The whole experience takes about 3 ½ hours
